I believe that it's fine. It's a safe place to keep your money, most people don't even notice it unless they press on you or you take it out when everyone is watching you, and it's pretty much the only was to carry your money. I think you should carry your money in the way that you believe is best. They may not think it's right, but they're not you and it's none of their business what you do. I don't always carry my money like that, only when I don't want to worry about my purse, like at a club, but when I go shopping and I need my money fast, I just carry a purse.
