met hima year ago and moved straight into to his place,, naively. In the last few months we've had some terrible verbally abusive fights and I had received a few slaps, decided to move home, it was too stressful!

Told him a break with no contact was necessary. He wont accept this, he either distraught in tears (the few times we've spoken on the phone, through his persistance) or msging meon my mobile phone:calling me 'georgeous'and pretending things are normal.
How do i make understand a break is a break, will he get it? Is ignoring him and practicing no contact too harsh? should i explain to him my reasons further,, or will i be playing his game?
