Dear forum Members,
I am researching the Loss of Hastings TG615 which crashed
at "Bannerdown Hill" near batheaston on Aproach to RAF Colerne.
I wish to photograph the crash sites and record the incidents any Postwar losses I would be interested in hearing from you, especailly from the Bristol and Bath area,
Hopefully it would make a interesting Book and any help would bve very much appreciated,
as with TG615 the problem is that on the map there is no such place as Bannerdown hill,
Howevor there is a place called "Bannerdown" and a couple of Miles away a place called "The Hill" could this be the last resting place of TG615 ??
any clues on the crash area would be much apreciated ,IE in a upward sloping field next to stream and woods ,
Many thanks for your help
Chris Collins

There is a photo at http://community.webshots.com/photo/65233255/202691484jQXNFxof Hastings TG615 shortly after she crashed on 21st October 1957, I'm sure the local newspaper from those days will have details of the event. Bannerdown Hill is actually shown on this website at http://www.batheaston.net/villagehistory.html , as I'm not local to this area I can only go by a Google search
Hope this helps

My Brother used to work at RAF Colerne (in a civil role)during the period covering the crash of TG615 - he is now blind but has "read" your note. He tells me that the crash actually occurred just across the road south of the Airfield alongside the road to Bath in a field which is also skirted by a laneway to the village of Ditteridge near Box but from what I know of the site there is no stream there but from the fragmented picture in the webshot of the aircraft it does give the impression that a stream is nearby but that's a twisted piece of sheet metal from the sticken Hastings in question.
This should pinpoint the site for you!
