Stationed at El Adem June 56 to Jan 59. With 62 and 1 Field
Squadron RAF Regiment. I am in touch with 50 of the 'Lads'
(We were then) and we have just had a re union. I think
it was El Adem that has kept us pals.

Hi there I was out in El Adem in 61 62, I think the name is The End in Italian as that is how far the Itys retreated to. You might remember me, I was a snowdrop and I used to train Falcons 8 of them I had. I also found an old side valve Triumph 350cc in a long forgotten shed and I used to whizz down to Tobruk for a swim and a Tea and Cobza at the Sally Ann. I also Chucked the Javelin, and was Middle East Champ. Swam across Tobruk Harbour 3 times won it twice and was beaten by some grey haired old fart like me now. Loads of memories, itwas great when the Pool came, a few of us did a diving display, more like muck about bombing time. I managed a big Bomb of the top board for Groupie Hubbard I soaked him but he loved it all, great man he was. Keep well all I am trying to get to the Reunion. Rik.

Fascinating place El-Adem. Was there with 62 field sqdn, which became 1 sdn. C/O was sqd ldr Spenser/ Spencer? The chap seemed to love the desert where we spent many interesting hours. Long live Laurence of Arabia aka Alan Roy!
