Subject: Car Nicobar - fantastic posting - 1955-56

Wonderful to read about one of my favourite places on earth! Spent 4 months on the island as an SAC Meteorologist between October 1955 and February 1956 - wanted to stay longer! So much of interest and so much more I want to know about the place. I'm in contact with another fellow met man (Pete Wyatt)who I met at Changi and we became firm friends and enjoy chatting about Carnic and Changi. A few years ago after a 50 year gap, I was in contact with another met friend who was stationed at both places (David Owen) originally from North Wales and we managed to meet on two occasions but sadly he passed away before we could arrange a third meeting. Whilst on Carnic I also worked in the NAAFI shop together with an LAC (Les ??) from Air Traffic. On arrival at the station, the CO had a chat with me and said I would have to do a second job whilst on the island and that was to work in the NAAFI in the evenings and at lunch time as and when my shifts would allow. It was all new and interesting. Hopefully someone may be able to contact me by e-mail and we can exchange information and memories etc.
