Why?
-Price. In most cases you can get the stuff delivered, including shipping charges cheaper or at the same price as at your local grocer. If you do have to pay a couple cents extra, isn't it worth it to save the drive time, traffic & parking lot headaches, & a couple hours of hell in the store?
-The guy checking out my food, touching every one of my items, looks like he has way too many diseases & needs a bath.
-Grocery store restrooms are covered in urine, feces, spit, boogers, & puke. It's safer to go in the bushes behind the store.
-No waiting in long checkout lines.
-No waiting for a couple of fat chicks with a bad attitude on welfare with 10 annying kids blocking the entire aisle with their fat asses, carts, & kids. Don't bother politely asking them to move or their 300lb husband who just got out of prison for murder will get upset. If you wait for them to move, all the food in that section is now covered with the kid's drool, snot, & diaper dribbles.
-Grocers deliberately move things around so you have to search the whole store to find stuff. They do this so you you buy more stuff not on your list. Don't bother asking where something is, that'll take more time, they're not sure, or direct you to the wrong section.
-When I'm busy or tired when I'm done, it's damn handy to just click around a checklist & have 30-100 pounds of food delivered right to my doorstep in 2-3 days (some cities the same day, but there's no online grocers in my area, so I get them from Brooklyn NY real cheap).
-My doorstep is in a congested area. It's hard to believe a small under-developed city like Buffalo can have congested areas, but it does... & my area is congested 24/7. I live right next door to downtown. My home is in the center of the main entertainment, dining, nightclub, & party district.
I'm not here by accident. My employers, their investors, & myself came to this district of boarded up, burnt-out buildings, broken windows, bums, & prostitutes to rebuild the area... not with taxpayer's money but private investors & hard work, with the investors working right beside me with a hammer, paint brush, or shovel in their hand. AMF the city, county, & state government tried to stop & block us all the way. The whole area was infested with cockroaches, rats, & other vermin. I also took charge of remodeling the upper floors of a brewery on the street. I was working around here so much, I decided to make the upper floor into a penthouse for my home. Because it was burnt out, & water damaged, the rent is real cheap. I put a year of hard labor into the place. I like it here, so I don't want to move.
The problem is, in the daytime, there's no place to park because all the parking is taken up by people who work downtown. Lunchtime is overcrowded. After that many come around my street to have coffee, eat, or have a drink. In the evening many come on my street to see a show or band, or have dinner. Late-night the nightclubers crowd the area.
So there's never anywhere to park unless I pay more than I do for my rent for monthly parking fees. So I have to park 4-6 long blocks away! Problem: how do I get 30-100 pounds of groceries from my car to my penthouse (no elevator either)? I gave up long ago & have it delivered. The last time I purchased anything in a store that I had to physically enter was in early March for plumbing & electronic parts for some jobs.
