Franken's book is the perfect book to expose the LIES that have gone on uncontested for so long. I'm up to snuff on political issues but I was fooled by the "Al Gore invented the Internet" claim until I read the story behind it. Lord knows if you tell a big enough lie often enough, people will believe it. That's how Hitler got the vast majority of Germans on his side. Now mind you, I'm no friend of the neo-libs. They have their agendas and their lies. In my eyes there are 3 main enemies to the progress of proper government. They are: Bloated bureaucracy-grows like a cancer, sucks up resources while giving ever diminishing returns. It seeks to expand like a gas to occupy whatever volume it can and fights all attempts to restrain it or make it function properly. Megacorps-Their huge amounts of wealth buy into whatever sector of government they need to and thus distort the political and economic process to the detriment of those who aren't in the game. Ever wonder what happened to affordable housing, health care and the middle class? You're getting slowly but surely squeezed like an orange! Religious fanaticism-The one great force capable of triggering a global war is the most dangerous and long-lasting one in history. All things are possible in the name of God and with Man has the acting agent, you can count on many of them being very bad indeed. The ultimate irony...LOL! Remember these two principles. The first is that democracy is the best government money can buy. The second is that in a democracy you get the leaders you deserve. Toss in the old saw about a money and his fool are soon parted to see why we have the rich getting richer while the fools keep electing leaders who perpetuate the situation. Personally I'm a believer in autocracy. One just Emperor is better than all the legislative bodies, presidents, premiers and courts around. One bad Emperor is easily replaced too! Someday I'll post my Imperium article up and you'll all see a new way to run human affairs that will ensure justice and liberty far better than the current systems.
