Gels do require buiding just as acrylics do, but the building is different. Gels are just as hard, if not harder, than acrylics to learn. So that said..... If you really want to DO gels then the SE (Salon Essentials) light won't cut it long term. You will need to invest in the LE or LCN light, or talk to Jim at LE about whether the SE light can be converted w/ his conversion kits.

Once you've got a good light than can cure gel properly (or even if you are determined to start with the SE light, sigh....), then you can experiment with several differant brands till you find what you like, such as LE (they have a starter set of gels for only $10, a real STEAL, go to www.lightelegance.com ), LCN, STAR, IBD, NSI, etc, etc, etc... see my links page for websites.

Some techs like to order their supplies by mail order (such as me), but that requires a lot of pre-planning and stocking of supplies, which some techs don't like to do. If that is the case with you, then you may find it better to use a gel brand that you can buy off the shelves at your local supply house, such as IBD.
