Subject: has starr lost her mind. In the previews for tomorrow she tells todd adn b lair ythat sam belongs with marcie not todd. when did starr get so nasty and mean spiriited, stgarr is vaery unlikeable right now. and starr and cole are not romeo and julietr, sorry abc promo depts.

I sympathize with Blair because she is caught in the middle. I understand her concern that she doesn't want Starr to leave when she's 18 and never speak to them again. But I also sympathize with Todd. His methods are too extreme, but he is trying to save his daughter from her (obviously) stupid self. He's right that she's too young to have sex. What he doesn't know is that the damage is likely already done. A pregnant Starr is exactly what Todd is trying to keep from happening. I also have to point out that if Starr had waited just 30 more minutes before she ran off and jumped into bed with Cole (without talking about or using protection) she would have been there when Todd came to her room and announced they weren't necessarily moving to Hawaii right away. What shocks me is Starr's utter stupidity. She was never EVER a stupid chararcter but in fact wiser than most adult characters on the show. Not now. She has sex at 16 without a thought about protection, and then she actually thinks that Sam will be taken away from Todd "just like that" if she says he abused him. Ok. My question then is -- why is Starr so naive about sex? She has criticized Blair enough for her casual attitude towards sex. She has seen the pain it has caused Blair over the years. Also, Starr has always been wiser than most of the adults in her life. What changed? Could Starr and Cole not have gone to the drug store for 10 minutes and bought condoms? Clarification: I am not questioning why 16-year-olds in general might be naive about sex. I am asking why Starr Manning is naive about it, given the environment she was raised in and who her mother is. Just don't buy that Starr would act this way in terms of not even considering protection. I don't disagree with you, Cathy. Given Starr's upbringing & her observations of her parents re: what complications can arise from sex, it seems quite uncharacteristic for Starr to have reacted in such a way. And, as I have previously posted about here, I am much more horrified by the fact that NOT ONE WORD was uttered about safe sex and/or protection during Starr & Cole's sex talk than anything else that has transpired (Todd's actions included). and focus on the gravity of love that exists between Starr & Cole and their desperate need to be together.However, it just highlights how unprepared S&C were to have sex and now face the consequences of their rash decision. I also agree that Starr's reactionary behavior & naivety in this situation are being played up for story purposes, so they can venture into the teen pregnancy & lovers on the run arena.
I really hope the fact that S&C did not use protection is thoroughly addressed in upcoming dialogue. If not, ABC will be hearing from me again!!

For me to enjoy a soap story, I have to believe, and I just don't believe this relationship (Sole). Maybe it is the shallow way Cole has been written over the past year and a half, maybe it's the actor who portrays him, or maybe it's just what I perceive as the lack of chemistry between the two actors. Whatever it is, I just can't buy their "Romeo and Juliet" status. I don't feel it. At all. I feel more for Todd and Blair in this story than I do for the main protagonists.

I have loved the character of starr from the beginning. she has not been your sweet soap kid. She is the definite off spring of blair and Todd. She went toe to toe with Max,Asa and Dorian.
She is a BRAT and I love her for that. I think if they re-casted her they would lose alot of loyal viewers. 30 years and counting for me.

I agree though that the writing could have been sharper in terms of that Viki,Jessica or others haven't been around to talk to Starr especially since Todd is throwing the accusation of rape out there.
Just like to say the KA is doing fine and I think she will have a lot to show us in the coming weeks.

I think they need to have a real 16 in the role, so those fans who are 16 have someone who realistically represents their age bracket. Fan may not like it but there are alot of 16 years olds out there who are having sex and little girls who do end up pregnant, who are just children themselves. The storyline would not be nearly as dramatic if it were a 22 year playing 16. Agreed, Tonya. I think the fact that KA is really 16 does skew things a bit in some people's interpretation. This is a very timely & relevant issue and I am thrilled that OLTL is addressing it!!! There are so many teens out there having sexual relations & many of them are under 16. I know that is a harsh reality for some, but is reality nonetheless.
