Subject: I didn't say she was supposed to start screaming. Just not act sentimental and joyous. It's not joyous. Starr's life is forever changed/ruined by this. I actually do know something about it too.
In reply to: Dandesun 's message, "It is what it is. What is she supposed to do? Start screaming at her like Dorian did Langston? I think Blair's most concerned with giving Starr a safe place... with her at home, rather than in some flop house in "Virginia Beach" or something worse." on 11:53:11 05/20/08 Tue

I teach high school, and one of my 14-year-old freshman was pregnant last year. One of my 16-year-old juniors is currently pregnant. I talked to both mothers in person, and both of them cried while discussing the situation with me -- believe me, neither cried tears of joy or seemed happy in any way. Both were standing by and supporting their daughters, but both had the demeanor closer to that of a funeral than a baby shower. That's the reality of it. It is a funeral of sorts when at 14 and/or 16, you can no longer be the kid you were meant to be. I just wish a little of that would be reflected in this story, that's all.

[> [> [> I do not think Starr's life is ruined, but its definitely changed forever. I do not think Blair is happy about it, she is even said it is not ideal situation, but it is what is it, and Blair does not want Starr to feel like she is alone anymore in this whole pregnancy thing. Blair is determined to be there for a pregnant Starr, and I think its great that they are a team. I think this pregnancy will bring Starr&Blair closer together as Starr realizes the connection between a mother&a child. -- lucy, 13:44:37 05/20/08 Tue

Starr she has options most teenagers don't have nor will ever have..All mothers are not going to react to what some find somber with the same attitude just as all funeral are a tear filled occasions. If Blair puts on a sad face or a screw face what does that solve? Maybe she wants to do her crying in private... No doubt this isn't the best of situations but I think Blair is making the best of it. There is a baby on the way that's the reality... There is time for conflicted feeling to appear and eventually sort themselves out. It doesn't all have to happen in one day.

[> [> [> [> Blair gives off a vibe that she thinks this is all very romantic and sweet. If she has conflicted feelings, I'd like to see them featured more. Not saying she shouldn't support Starr, but acting prideful and touched by the sonogram was a big over the edge. -- Cathy, 14:27:31 05/20/08 Tue

Starr's life is changed all right -- but not for the better.

[> [> [> [> [> Starr has been pregnant for 3 months with no support whatever from her parents in fact Todd treated Starr like a common criminal. Blair can not even believe to imagine how alone and afraid her daughter felt for all this time, and she hates that Starr was too afraid to confide in her. Blair is now putting Starr first, Blair is not going to make this about her. Blair's sole focus is Starr, and she knows Starr needs at least one parent who is willingly to share the experience with her, and reassure Starr that she is not alone. I am glad that this is bringing Starr&Blair closer. -- lucy, 14:53:40 05/20/08 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> [> Starr is always fine with Blair as long as Blair is saying exactly what she (Starr) wants to hear. The minute Blair says something Starr doesn't want to hear, Starr flips out on her. I wonder what Starr's words to her will be the next time Blair says something that is not exactly in support of Sole love or teens "making love"? -- Cathy, 15:00:56 05/20/08 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> I do not know about that. I think Starr carrying this baby is definitely giving Starr some valuable insight into a mother's love which I hope will lead Starr understand better where Blair is coming from. -- lucy, 15:06:03 05/20/08 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> It's still the same day... There is still plenty of time for other reactions to rise to the surface. I'm not sure what an appropriate reaction for a Mama looking at a sonogram would be? Reserved? Put out? Emotionless? What was she suppose to say or do? -- sluva, 17:00:19 05/20/08 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> Blair gives off the vibe that her daughter is pregnant, her husband is out of control, and she has to take hold of the situstion. I am sure she is glad Cole is standing by Starr.. many young boys don't. Cole has tried to protect Starr and Blair sees that. -- tonya, 04:54:19 05/21/08 Wed

[> [> [> Cathyyou said they cried while talking to you... not to their daughters. Blair did cry when she was away from Starr.. she just did not do it in front of her. She realizes this is about the baby and Starr now... not about HER. -- tonya, 04:49:11 05/21/08 Wed
