Subject: Virginia Slims Catalog

I just called Virginia Slims and they said no 2009 catalog is available yet - and I put my name on a mailing listing so if one becomes available - one can be mailed.

Hi Rose,

I'm sure that a new catalog will arrive soon. My wife gets them and she too has a lot of UPC's to use. They used to come out twice a year (spring and fall). I think now they only issue one each year.

Some on this board have been curious as to if there would be a new catalog, because of the new rules regarding advertising. As far as I know, they can send a catalog. But the merchandise offered can not have the Virginia Slims brand name or VS logo on it.

Ah well, there goes all those cool t-shirts that my wife liked to wear. The one's with a saying on the front and the VS logo on the back, proclaiming "You've come a long way, baby."

How times change....
Regards,
Glen

I too have hundreds of Virginia Slims UPC's and a huge box of empty VS cigarette boxes that I haven't even cut the UPC's out of yet! My catalog is from 2007 which I received in the mail, but I had never received a catalog before or since! I completed the order form, but never mailed it. I have been trying to get current information before mailing in the order with the UPC's thinking it's too late to order from that catalog. I've been unable to find contact information (even from the catalog I have). If anyone knows if the old catalog is still okay to order from or the best way to contact regarding same, please post!!
Gosh, I remember the VS logo too. I actually had the silver satin/pink trim shorts with zipped hooded jacket when I was a senior in high school! Wow, "a long way baby" is right! Goodnight (hopefully!)

From past experience; No, you cannot order from old catalogs...they change items each year. I've even run into items being out-of-stock when I send my order in later in the summer. To get your own catalog try the smoke shops. They can be a resource for catalogs as VS will enclose an abreviated version of it inside VS cigarette cartons.

To all asking about the Virginia Slims 2009 catalog, I just spoke to a representative who told me that they are no longer excepting the UPCs, hence, no catalog. My Mom has literally boxes of them that she's been saving for 2 years, only to be told now that they are worthless. I was told that I could keep them or throw them away. Seriously, the rep said, "Well, it's up to you if you would like to keep them."

"For what reason would I keep them now if they are worthless?" I asked.

"Well, like I said, if you want to you can keep them but we no longer accept them," she replied.

Also, she wanted more personal information - which I refused to give - so that she could "set up a record and new file." No thanks.

Sorry folks, but I hope this message will keep you from going through the trouble I did only to find out we've all been scammed again by yet another big industry.

Could this be true no more merchandise for upc labels. Why? Has anyone else reached virginia slims to verify that they no longer have catalogs for us to order?

Hi All,

I just called today 6/16/09 and no word of a catalog yet. The operator was very nice, but not so helpful either. Just put my name on "the list" to receive one if they become available. I told her I just wanted to know if they are no longer going to commit to a catalog, I may not want to commit to saving the UPC's. May finally be time to either quit (yea rite) or switch back to something a lot cheaper.

Dang it!

I too have lots of UPS's to redeem. Would like to receive catalog too. I got this phone # off one site 800-494-2444 and plan to call it. Hope it works. If we all call for a catalog, maybe they send. Also haven't received coupons in mail in a long, long time. Used to get $4, $5 off carton and $1 off pack. NO MORE!

Why is it that when you go to buy cigarettes Virginia Slims is the most expensive? Is that discrimination since that brand obviously targets women? And if I'm going to pay that much more I want to get something besides cancer in return! Where are my coupons and my catalog? I can smoke a different brand from a different manufacturer or yeah I could quit! Have in the past for years at a time. I just really enjoy a relaxing cigarette. You would think that as many people who have quit the company would be trying to keep us coming back. Thanks for taking the time to read my venting.

Try the phone number on the side of the pack: 1-800-787-4330. They are in eastern time so were closed when I tried to call since I am out west. I'll be trying them again tomorrow to find out if there will ever be another catalog - or savings coupons. I agree that if we are faithful to the brand during these difficult economic times, we should be rewarded in some way. I doubt it would be all that difficult to switch to another, cheaper, brand.

I just called the 800-494-2444 number Consumer affairs for Phillip Morris. They are no longer accepting the UPC's at this time. I stated I may as well toss them and she said that was up to my discretion. So ladies that is the scoop I received. Prices went up too hmmmm. Think I will switch to cheaper brand.

Just called the Phillip Morris Consumer's number (800.494-2444); there is no VS catalog for 2009. However, they still had some items left over from the '08 catalog, and I was offered one of those "as a reward for being a valued customer." They said they're sending me a set of silicon bake ware, that should ship within 3-4 weeks. I was also given the direct contact number (and name) for the person with whom I talked (a very nice lady), and she made a note of the fact that I was disappointed to NOT be able to get a VS catalog this year. In the past I've gotten some very nice items (in particular: a black quilted-leather hand bag and matching cigarette case - that fits the 120s!), and have continued looking in the catalogs for other quality items. I've got a heap of UPCs saved up, so I'll hang on to them; I have the feeling that Phillip Morris will resume with the catalogs next year, just MNSHO of course!

I just called 1-800-494-2444 and they stated there will not be issuing a catalog this year, but there are still coupons. Also, since I am such a valued customer they are sending me loyalty items including the cookware set , a silver watch and coupons. So don't give up hope yet, just keep trying!

I too smoke(d) Virginia Slims for more than 25 years and saved every one of those upc codes! I looked forward to the new catalog every year to get neat stuff and or free carton cigarette coupons. Made me feel like their higher price made them worth it. I was a virginia slim "snob" and very loyal, until I lost my job this year and the price or taxes raising again this year so I decided to switch to Basic brand only because they are about $1.50 cheaper a pack. I just called the 800 # and spoke to the same nice lady who confirmed no new catalog at this time and doesn't know if it will ever be brought back. I voiced my dissapointment and she took my info, is sending me a gift and coupons. I am holding on to my upc's. You never know, one day I might get a catalog!!

Reinstate this fabulous redemption program for the loyal smokers of Virginia Slips because we pay a premium price to enjoy this project.

Hi Folks, just talked to consumer affairs and they advised no new catalog for 2010 either. I got the same thing about hanging on to the UPCs, they never know if the promotional catalog will come back someday. I'm also having trouble in my area with even getting the brand I smoke (VS Menthol Lights) I traveled to 2 Kroger stores and a Thorntons gas station no packs of VSLMs or cartons! Unbelievable! I had to call to make sure they still made them or if there was a distribution problem in my area. The rep advised if demand is low then the product is not going to be ordered. The old rules of supply and demand, which is really discouraging because besides the high price of these cigarettes now theres no telling how far I have to travel to buy my brand. Looks like its time to quit!
