Darren, thanks for looking into that.
I remember last year we were talking to the organizers of summerfest and they at that point were consider talking about possibly dropping the whole hog if we could make up the same amount of cooked meat by using shoulders or butts.
That of course for the teams that were going to do whole hog anyways.
That would certainly aid in getting more teams to come out.
I know one thing, I would jump at the chance to avoid cooking whole hog at these events where you are only judged on one tray of meat from the whole hog only.
It just seems like a ton of work and prep for one tray of meat where the rest of the hog is not judged, plus there is a hell of a lot less waste with shoulders and butts....
