Received this little invitation by email and thought I'd post it here in case anybody's interested. Not a sanctioned event, but looks like it could be fun and we don't really see many that we can drive to in areasonable amount of time.

Toad Hollow Backyard BBQ

A National Competition Sponsored by Michigan BBQ Consortium

Vicksburg Recreation Area, Vicksburg, Michigan



Chicken
Ribs ( You may enter either Dry or Wet ribs)
Sausage
Anything But ( Any BBQ but the three named categories))

Grand Championship

To be eligible for the Grand Companionship Ribbon, your team must cook these
four categories Chicken, Ribs, Sausage, and Anything But.

The Grand Companionship Ribbon will not be awarded if less than two (2)
teams sign up to cook all four meats. If this change must be implemented,
teams will be notified before the contests.


Individual Competitions
.

You may want to enter just one of the proceeding categories, or two, or
three. ³Best of² ribbons will be awarded in all four categories.

The Anything But category is the opportunity for you to BBQ anything other
than the selections already in the competition. For example, one could BBQ
Baked Beans or any vegetable. Go ahead and surprise our judges.

In Ribs a team may choose to enter either ³Wet Ribs² ( with a sauce), or
³Dry Ribs² (without a sauce). If any team chooses to cook both wet and dry
Ribs, the entry fee for ribs will be doubled.



Best Burger on the Planet Championship (BBOP)

Put together your best burger, including your favorite bun, and win the
honor of holding the title of ³BBOP² until next year¹s competition.



Dessert

Bring out your best, most decadent, or palate soothing homemade ³from
scratch² dessert to Vicksburg. Our judges will be very happy you did. And
you may go home with the title of ....... Best Decadent Dessert. for 2003.


When

The cooking starts after your meat has been inspected on Saturday morning
and the cook¹s meeting is over. Judging starts Saturday at noon.

Entries must be received by April 26, 2003.


Where to meet

Toad Hollow Backyard BBQ is at the Vicksburg Recreation Area. This Area is
one half a mile (.5 miles) north of V Avenue on the west side of Sprinkle
Road.
