Subject: A great book

Hi folks!

I trust everyone had a happy and healthy holiday season. I know I personally am looking forward to further BBQ adventures in 2003.

AS a Christmas gift I received a book I wanted to tell you about. It's called "Legends of Texas BBQ Cookbook" by Robb Walsh, who is a syndicated food journalist and native Texan. I haven't been able to put it down. As well as recipies it is a history lesson and in-depth tour of Texas Q like you wouldn't believe. I had always pigeonholed Texas BBQ as briskets and offset pits, but this book showcases traditions and techniques as diverse as the population itself. Everything from old-world German and Czech smokehouses to pit-cooked steer's head to baby goat on a spit, as well as a huge following of traditional southern-style BBQ, due to the influx of ex-slaves after emancipation.

I could go on and on, but basically I am recommending this book as a welcome addition to anyone's collection.
