I have built such a smoker and have been using it now for about 2 years. It cooks like a dream. The protype has a cooking space inside of about 2 ft. square and about 3 ft. high . I cooked 2 turkeys ( 20 lbs each) and 3 hams (10 lbs each ) on thanksgiving in a 6 hour period and the turkeys were brown as if cooked inside the kitchen. It has no hood , the heat is contained and can still be used outside even if there is a down pouring of rain .
