Last night my 17 year old, college-bound daughter was reading "Song of Myself" aloud. She substituted the wrong polysylabic words for the ones in the text. Granted, the poem doesn't make sense in and of itself, but inserting the wrong words makes any text nonsensical. For example, substituting potholder for potato, "french fried potholders" doesn't make sense. My kid exhibited this exact same behavior when she was learning to read. 12 years later, the identical behavior survives, which is why i had the thought, "Is this a form of dyslexia?" Has my poor kid been struggling with dyslexia for the past 12 years? Please advise! thank you
