Hi I am a 24 year old college student and I have just been diagnosed with dyslexia. Although my Mother, Brother and Sister have all known for may years that they have dyslexia, my school refused to test me. they said that as i did not show signs of dyslexia, even though i constantly got things wrong, such as spelling and gramma, there was no point in wasting time, as i was just a bit of a slow learner, my guess is they thought there was no point in wasting money to have someone tested that probably wouldn't go far in life anyway. It was only when i felt like i need something more challenging in my life other than a borning job in a chip shop, that i jion the local college and started an access course, that my dyslexia was picked up, my college tutors decided to test me, as my work was not up to standard. I am now receiving some help, all beit once aweek, I would really like other dyslexic's to share their copeing stratages with me. thanks for taking the time to read this and if you have any advice then please share it with me.
