I am a 21 year old and I can write in beautiful cursive but printing is another story. All through school I wrote in cursive once i learned. In college when I print I get told that my letters are backwards and the words dont make sence. I have a hard time copying words for words from boards and textbook. My reading is not so great either. I just don't understand. I mannaged to get through highschool being on the honnor society but i was also in mostly all special education classes throughout school. I was able to hide my reading problem in high school because I would never read out loud. I did tell mom and teachers a couple of times that reading is hard. When I had my 3 year re evaluation done, the doctor guy said that it doesn't look like a reading problem, it was only my memory that was a problem. i am attending a four year college and my english professor asked the class to write a writting sample at the last ten minutes of class. I felt rushed and knew I couldn't get extra time, so i quickly printed down what came to my mind and handed it in. I had an appoinment with the lady who runs the disability services to pick up my L.D.reports to give to my professors to inform them about my disability and on that day she told me that my english professor showed her my paper. I saw the paper and was so ashamed of my writting. We then set up a meeting with the three of us to discuss accomondations. I am now doing better but why didn't anyone during my school years pick up this problem? How do I find out if I do have dyslexia?
