On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate "Anthem" at about a 7. It is a fairly good novel, however, I didn't really understand the purpose of the novel. The novel depicts unity as negative, but when Equality finally breaks away from the society and becomes an individual, he is depicted as being somewhat arrogant, and it seems as if he may eventually become a tyrannical leader of his own society.

The aspect of Ayn Rand's novel that I found the most disturbing was the way she seemed to almost completely ignore the presence of women in society. The only woman who had any role in the story was Liberty, and she is depicted as being inferior and subserviant to Equality.
