Subject: New pavilion - Hethersett Memorial Playing Filed

It is my understanding that Hethersett Parish Council is not supporting plans for a new purpose-built pavilion on Hethersett Memorial Playing Field.

This project is supported 100 per cent by Hethersett Athletic Football Club and we are deeply saddened at the short-sightedness of those opposing this development.

Hethersett is now an extremely large village, but its sporting facilities are still relatively poor and desperately need improving as anyone who has had to change in the existing hut on the playing field will agree.

This new development would give our village the chance to be a showcase for sporting teams throughout the county. It would provide good class changing, catering and meeting facilities and regular use of the building would also detract would-be vandals from congregating at the park.

To me this is the latest example of negative vision which has hampered the village for a number of years. If you agree with my views, please post a message on this noticeboard and get as many people as possible to send a letter of support for the project to the planning department at South Norfolk District Council at Long Stratton. The department can also be e-mailed on planning@s-norfolk.gov.uk

Hethersett deserves good facilities - let's not let the negative minority stop us from moving forward.

Peter Steward
