"The plague was visited upon us on the day of our Lord's crucifixion," Germanicus pronounced, lifting his blonde head from the neck of a drained and dying whore.
Flavian wiped his mouth on a dirty handkerchief leaving haphazard, Daliesque geometric splatters in red on the snot and semen stained fabric. "No, it wasn't a plague! It was a gift given at the Last Supper when the apostles drank Christ's blood."
"That was wine," Maxim interjected, raising his groggy head.
Lucien coughed up a wad of bright pink phlegm and spit it out as laughter. "Maxim, you old devil! I thought you were long overcome with intoxication!"
The slow sucking sound made by Germanicus as he fed was a hypnotic rhythm matching the sluggish pulse of his harlot feast.
"By God, it came from Judas Iscariot!" Maxim shouted words leaden and soddenly slurred.
Chuckling, Lucien dropped his boy's limp hand into his bared lap. "Balderdash! That is an old wives tale! We don't come from the flesh of a traitor who burns on the spits of hell as we speak!"
"Do you think we will go to hell?" Flavian the Well Mannered asked, eyeing the glowing light flickering along the horizon's edge. "Have we not broken the Commandments?"
Germanicus shoved his dead companion off of the blood-drenched altar. "Shut your hole, Flavian. We are holy vessels, washed in the blood. Were you not there at Golgotha when Christ died and the sky darkened?"
"I was detained in Rome that day, making preparations for Paul," Flavian reported, his proud air ruffled, but returning….
