Mutable Grand Cross-Spring Equinox: Portal to the New Age

We live at a defining moment in human evolution.

We can choose to grow and learn to be in harmony and peace on this planet. Or we can revert back to the old ways. The old ways are ingrained. There has always been violence and killing on Earth. In prehistoric times, we used clubs, bows, arrows. Then fighting became mechanized. Today we have nuclear warheads.

The potential threat of the senseless human act of war brings up the lessons of the Grand Cross. The Grand Cross is a sign in the heavens of transformation here below.

In these times of prophecy, the Shift of the Ages, we are coming home to higher consciousness. We are bringing heaven to Earth. Star alignments bring focus to the soul evolution we are experiencing as we participate in this mission.

The oppositions and squares that form a Grand Cross help us raise our awareness, fine tune our intentions, release limitations and move forward on our journey home. The cross in the sky is the shape of the equal-armed cross associated with both destiny and prophecy in spiritual traditions. The Grand Cross lines up our issues for closer inspection like the crosshairs in a sighting device. Will we look? What will be our target?

The Grand Cross comes in three varieties - Fixed, Cardinal and Mutable. Many of us are aware of the power of the Grand Cross in fixed signs, thanks to our experience with the Grand Fixed Cross-Solar Eclipse back on August 11, 1999. Then the three Saturn-Pluto direct oppositions of 2001-2002 brought to a head the issue of how humans resolve conflict. The attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon happened during that time.

According to "Esoteric Astrology" by Alice Bailey, the Fixed Cross brings about "points of crisis" that are unavoidable and present significant opportunity. The Mutable Cross catalyzes "periods of change in the life of the planet, of a kingdom in nature, or of a human being." And the Cardinal Cross elicits "points of synthesis" as a result of both crisis and change.

The Grand Fixed Cross asks us to clarify what we stand for, who we stand with and what we stand on (what is our foundation). How have we answered these questions since August 1999, individually and collectively? We're seeing a major uncloaking and shift away from the old paradigm - corporate greed and corruption, war and oppression. People around the world today are saying "no" to war and the systems that lead to it. But what are we saying "yes" to? The new forms are not yet in place.

That brings us to the Mutable Grand Cross. In mutable signs, this one is about shifting, changing, creating new forms.

On March 18, just two days before the Spring Equinox, we have a Full Moon-Mutable Grand Cross with the Sun and Mercury together in Pisces opposite the Moon in Virgo, and Saturn in Gemini opposite Pluto in Sagittarius. This is, to say the least, a very difficult alignment filled with oppositions and squares. Saturn opposes Pluto again, recalling the three powerful Saturn-Pluto direct oppositions of 2001-2002. Remember that Saturn-Pluto alignments are associated with military actions and economic downturns. The Sun and Mercury in Pisces assure we will feel this alignment deeply.

The more challenging the energies of an alignment, however, the greater the opportunity for change and growth. The Mutable Cross - the Cross of Changes - initiates a period of radical transformation that is echoed by the transit of Uranus through Pisces for the next seven years (beginning March 10, see below). While astrological volatility will continue throughout 2003, the long-term results will be worth the conscious effort we put into our co-creation now.

If we say "no" to war, we must also evaluate the systems that bring it into being. That means all systems, all structures that allow or lead to armed conflict. The connection between greed and corruption with war is obvious. The structure of our governments is predicated on the possibility of war. The media thrive on war. Domestic violence and child abuse pave the way for war. Slaughter of animals is related to war. We're talking about society as a whole. The entire paradigm needs to shift if we truly choose a world filled with peace and harmony. Otherwise, we will face these crisis points again and again, and war will continue to be an option.

We are about to be reborn in the waters of Pisces. The midwife of Saturn in Cancer beginning in early June will help make the changes last. It is critically important, beginning with the New Moon in Pisces on March 2 and continuing through the Spring Equinox, to focus on what we choose to create. The energy of the planetary alignments in March 2003 supports the co-creation process. It's time to begin visioning for our future, to lay the foundation for new systems that work.

When the Sun entered Pisces on February 18, we already began to feel this Mutable Cross, and its effects will stay with us awhile. The Full Moon-Mutable Grand Cross on March 18 provides much needed clearing and focus for the gateway alignment of the Spring Equinox just two days later.

The Sun moves into Aries on the Spring Equinox on March 20. Equinoxes and Solstices are the cardinal points on the solar wheel and serve as "gateways" that allow us increased capacity to tune into and align with higher consciousness. Again, they are like the crosshairs of our spiritual sighting device. What will we set our sights on?

At the Spring Equinox, the symbology is of rebirth and renewal, the opportunity for a fresh start. This is why the Mutable Cross on March 18 is such a gift from the heavens. The cosmos is smiling on humanity, offering this opportunity to change our world and make a quantum leap together. March 2003 is the gateway.
