Why hasn't anyone asked the question: "What IS God exactly?"
What are the origins of that little three letter word? It has been speculated that the first things man began to worship (which literally means ascribe value to) was nature. The deification of animals, the moon, the sun etc. etc.. In this respect I sometimes prefer to think of GOD in the same terms as Spinoza did. God IS dead because we've forgotten what the hell GOD is AND a God deis when people stop believeing in it. To really think about it, a God can be akin to a cause and when people stop believeing in that cause it dies. But WHAT is the cause of God? TO completely obliterate GOD we must deconstruct and disect god to the sum of it's parts thus breaking God down to it's distinctions and finally putting it to rest. The fairy tale notion of God is what is dead YES FINALLY! Bear in mind I am no Christian, but what I ask is do we REALLY know what in the hell it (god) is that we atheists are denying the existence of? WHAT is IT? Not just in Christian terms but in universal terms, what are it's origins. The "old man with a big gray beard in the clouds" is DEAD, yet something beyond that fairy tale remains, something that deserves further scrutiny!!! It is NOT enough to merely deny the existence of something for it not to exist. EVERYTHING has origins and nothing is outside the realm of influence, that is, nothing exists in a vacuum (literally). The concept of God did not just drop out of the sky or appear from thin air!! It has origins..VERY human origins. And those humans that developed the concept were pre-influenced, that is, they did not exist in a vacuum!!
