..... You're "throwing out the baby with the bath water". Some religions, like Christianity, have many versions, and (some? many? all?) of them have encountered all sorts of problems that not only were NOT solved, but whose so-called solutions caused a lot more problems that (often? always?)were worse than the original ones. We should go back to what the original founders of belief systems intended, to the FIRST versions. (Some? Many?) of them were idealistic that would have worked only with specially selected members, not at all with the general public. Christianity's FIRST version is one of those.

..... Please do NOT generalize. The original intention of some belief systems apparently is/was to help very many people, while others are/were apparently only (highly successful?) business ventures that are/were out to extract as much money as possible from highly gullible believers, and the first priority is/was to maximize "the bottom line".
