Subject: 2002 Miss United States Junior Teen of America
Inroducing Miss Jenny Saluk our reigning 2002 Miss United States Junior Teen of America. Jenny has been a very busy young lady since winning her title.
She came home from Perfect to win the "Miss US of America" Preteen title in August, which she will give up next year at Foxwood Casino/Resort in Ct.--the pageant will be a benefit for St. Jude's Children's Hospital!!!
Before winning the perfect title, she was the International Hawaiian Tropic Jr Miss, and gave up her title in Quebec in August. While the title holder, she traveled to Turtle Bay Hawaii, to be a guest at the Adult Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant in May.
She then filmed a commercial in August for Prudential Insurance (Vineyard), which was televised nationally!!!
She auditioned for a regional ballet company's (Boston Dance Company) nutcracker, and was cast in the corps de ballet as a flower, and is now a company apprentice!! This role is usually danced by 16-18 year olds and is considered a company part--and she received a small stipend for her role. In addition to public performances, the company performed in 5 shows for inner city Boston School children. And she also danced at benefits in Wolfeboro NH for their festival of trees and First Night. She now is committed to ballet and takes classesat least 5-6 days per week.
Jenny has now been accepted into American Ballet Theaters Summer Intensive, at the University of Alabama.
And on top of all this, she still maintains her A average, and has recently been recognized by the John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth and was invited to take SAT's at age 12 and to participate in special workshops for gifted teens.!!!.
Jenny and Marianne have been very busy since Christmas with charity work (and wearing their perfect banners at these events). They have again collected Teddy Bears for children in hospitals, which were delivered to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield on Feb 7, and they will be taking additional bears to Umass Medical Center next Saturday. They also attended Carrie Warren's benefit for the Salvation Army, and participated in a walk for the Salvation Army last Saturday. They are also sewing winter hats to donate, and are collecting blankets and towels to donate to the local humane society. We will have our own team at this year's "Relay for Life" and will be volunteering at the Avon Breast Cancer Relay.
