Subject: A Word From A Queen

A word from the queen...

I would like to encourage other pageant contestants to "Never give up!" If you have ever heard the saying, "The third time is a charm" well, I definitely proved that statement true! After receiving second runner up in the Teen Miss United States in 2002 and second runner up in the Miss United States last year, I finally captured the crown in 2004. All the hard work and patience paid off!

I spent many long hours volunteering for the "Community Service" portion of the competition. I also worked hare to prepare what I thought was the perfect wardrobe, with the help of Debby Tuck, from Princess Pageant Room in Dothan, Alabama. I was more relaxed and self assured this year than in the past two years, as we made the trip to the National Competition in Atlanta.

When I arrived for interview, I met amazing delegates from all over the world! The pageant was just as much fun, as it had been for the past two years. We dressed up in western wear for the opening number. It was like a family reunion when I got to see many of the delegates that I had met in the past two years.

As my name was called out as the new "Miss United States" I started to cry. This was a moment that had taken three years to come true. As the photographer was taking the crowning pictures, I received a call from my Mimi who is my biggest supporter. This was officially one of the best day of my life!

Now, to top it off...Miss Bobbie, the director then gave me the news that I would be representing the United States in the Miss International Pageant in Canada in 2005. Wow! It hasn't been a month yet, and I have received so many phone calls and e-mails requesting me to appear at various functions. I have done many public appearances and community service projects with past titles, however, I think this might be the most fun year I will ever have!
