Wow, we can't believe how long it's been since we posted! Sorry :(

Soooo, what have we done...

Before leaving New Zealand we spent 2 nights with Lois and Dave Wong and their family in Auckland. Lois is a woman who mom met on her outback camping trip in Australia. They were a really nice family, and we had a great time with them. We finally got to sample some real New Zealand food, on our last nights in the country! We had yummy roast lamb (and a vegetarian roast for Sarah), Cumeras (sp?? They are a NZ potato), and pavlova! MmmMmm... Lois and Dave also took us out for a nice drive out to the West Coast, to see the surfing beaches.

After arriving in Australia, we spent a few days in Brisbane trying to find work. Sarah actually managed to get us both offered a job at a restaurant, but after some thought we decided we would rather not work in the city. So we headed out to visit with Lynne and John and Chubba and Bundy for a few days!

We had such a great time staying with Lynne and John, thanks you guys! They live in an absolutely gorgeous suburb of Brisbane called Thornlands. They drove us all around and showed us the area. We didn't have any luck spotting koalas, but we had fun trying! They also fed us some super yummy pizza AND pop... what a luxery after 60 cent instant noodles!!

After 3 days with Lynne and John, we took the train out to Maroochydore, a resort town on the ocean. It was absolutely beautiful there! We spent our first afternoon lounging on the beach. We went for our first swim in the Australian ocean. The waves were so big, it was a little scary but super fun trying to jump over them, or ride them in to shore. Next time we have to learn to surf ;)

We saw the Matrix Reloaded while in Maroochydore. It was pretty painfully bad for the first bit (a completely unnecessary sex/dancing scene that seemed to go on FOREVER!), but once the action and fighting started we enjoyed it.

Our second day in Maroochydore we went to Australia Zoo, home of the Crocodile Hunter! We didn't see Steve while we were there, but it was good fun nonetheless. It's a really nice zoo, filled almost entirely with native animals. We got to pet the kangaroos! Steve and Terri's faces were EVERYWHERE, it was so funny. In the gift shop you could even buy talking crocodile hunter dolls! We almost got one for Liam, but decided against it... hehe ;)

We had been hoping to work picking strawberries in Maroochydore, but because of the weather the work wasn't going to start for another 2 weeks. Instead we took the train today to Bundaberg, where we are now. We're staying at a hostel which pretty much guarantees to find us harvesting work within the next 3 days. It seems like a nice town, so hopefully things will work out for us here. (the hostel apparently has free breakfast, so we'll see what that's like!). The town is pretty small, and food seems to be pretty cheap here... unlike internet!

Time to go finish exploring, love to all!!

Sarah and Nomi
