Subject: Hello from Kuala Lumpur!!!!

Helloooooooooo world!

We're here, and very hot! We showered this morning around 9 am, it's 10 am now, and we feel like we haven't showered in weeks! Last night we were laying in bed around 8 pm, and we suddenly heard these really loud noises. At first we thought somebody was moving furniture around upstairs, but it turned out to be a nasty rainstorm outside! I guess that's what happens when you come right near the end of monsoon season :) It's not raining now, so we're planning on going on a run about town today.

Our plane ride in wasn't too bad, considering it was about 27 hours, including a few hours of stopover in LA and Taipei. Naomi had great fun playing Zelda and Dr. Mario, and we both "enjoyed" watching an extremely horrible movie entitled "Swimfan". Malaysian airlines is so nice. The crew all wore these beautiful uniforms, and kept bringing us little moist towelettes, and yummy food.

It's hard to believe we're actually in Asia, we keep thinking we're in Vancouver or something. The bus ride from the airport into town was kind of weird. The suburbs of Kuala Lumpur are expanding like CRAZY. There were TONS of huge new apartments/houses springing up, all in construction. It's so weird though, when they get an idea for a living complex, they built it on a massive level. There was these complexes of like 150 houses, which all looked EXACTLY the same. It was pretty messed up. We saw tons of coconut trees around, we think they do a lot of harvesting of them.

We felt a little lost at first, it's kinda strange to suddenly be a minority group, and we have been getting some strange looks. People are overall quite friendly though, and we're starting to get used to it. We met a nice old chap from Yorkshire today while we were eating breakfast(which by the way consisted of cereal and toast and jam, not very authentic asian but good none the less)who tolds us all about his travels. He also suggested some things for us to do while we're here, which was nice because we had no idea what to do! He also invited us to eat dinner with him tonight at some restaurant in the city.

We're probably going to hang out here for a couple days, and then head on up to Thailand.

Our room was a little different than we expected,it was very tiny and very hot, kinda resembled a sauna actually. It also didn't have any windows. However we quickly discovered that it had it's own private bathroom and a very nice air conditioning unit, so now were quite content :)

Were going out now to see some more of the city, and find out how to take the bus/train to Thailand, but we'll check in again when we get a chance.

Talk to you all soon, we miss you!

Love Sarah and Nomi
