Subject: Hi ERG--compare financials/Licensing Creative Star/Octopus/Toronto
Comments:

Additional to ERG retaining access to the Proton technology by taking a 20 year global licence of the Proton technology non exclusive access, exclusive access though to 5 customers is noted. ERG owns the technology which is licensed to Creative Star -- for use only in Hong Kong, Creative Star is now known as Octopus I hear they have teamed up with Cubic re Netherlands ERG had to say not to it--read the 233 page document released on the 6/3/03 for an understanding of why the entity had to withdraw, I notice with the sale of Proton there is exclusive access to 5 customers, have to ask investor relations who they are, if they will tell me. On another note ERG Transit Systems are partners with Creative Star (ie Octopus) on the Toronto project, I'll see if I can get an update on this.
"The half-year result includes a provision of $52.4 million taken in contemplation of the PWI sale, as compared to its book value at 31 December 2002.An amount of e22.5 million (A$40.9 million), representing payments due to ERG on a milestone earn-out basis under the proposed PWI sale has not been accounted for in determining the provision and will be brought to account as it is earned. As part of the proposed sale", in other words the more cards ERG flog off over the next ten years the quicker that get the earn out payment and bring forward the recovereable amount of 52.4m
For a comparison between results it may help to refer back to this post Date: Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at 7:13:00 AM
