Roberta’s alcohol-laden voice rose to new levels of ear-piercing intensity while Nikita, shaking her head, backed away from both the apparition in the doorway and from the heavy-handed, foul-smelling man who had invaded her room while her mother had been out.
"She invited me in," he slurred the words as his eyes remained on the little beauty. Roberta was a mutt, but her daughter . . .
"You little slut!" Roberta fumed, lumbering forward, ignoring the denials and explanations coming from her daughter’s mouth. Explanations, if believed, that meant her little girl held more appeal than she did. Impossible! She raised her hand.
