I reflexively grip the stick shift. Eyes drifting closed, I allow myself to imagine. One split second, hard thump of steel against fragile, pale flesh. I can take you out of this world. Out of her life.
Not out of her mind.
I can execute the original profile, instead of my alternate one. Her life - and mine - would be simpler, safer.
Nothing with her is simple and safe.
She�ll overcome her anger at unwillingly leaving you. Her hatred of me for killing you would burn forever in her eyes.
I slam hard into first and gun the engine.
