Stephen watched the clock. He had been watching it for the last ten minutes. He knew every part of the face of the clock.
It's brand was Culova. It had a white background with small black diamond shapes over it. The clock's big hand moved
the last six degrees to midnight. It now pointed directly up through the gap between the 1 and the 2 of the 12.
Midnight. Time was up. He stood behind Nikita with his gun ready. Vincent was on the other side with his Uzi, also ready.
Marco was behind Nikita. Marco's hands came up with the garotte. He quickly slipped it over Nikita's head and around
her neck and pulled tight. Nikita's hands moved and tried to grab the wire from her neck.
Her brain wanted them to go to the left and grab Vincent's Uzi and twist and shoot the others before twisting again
to get Vincent. Her hands stopped moving. One fell onto her lap. The other stayed near her neck, one of her fingers
trapped beneath the thin wire. Her breath would not come in again.
The door behind them opened. Stephen turned and reflexively fired his pistol. He saw the blood coming from Michael's
chest area. Only one thought came to Stephen.
"Hope the CM-12 chip wasn't in his shirt pocket."
