Michael had finished setting the launcher up. The doors of the airport hanger the launcher was aimed at were closed.. The sign on the left one falling off one bracket. ¡§Heathshead Airport¡¨ Red letters on a dirty white background.

¡§ Launcher set. Camera on launcher is operating to record the event. Awaiting target. How long?¡¨

¡§About two minutes, Michael.¡¨

The two flash bombs went off to the right, twenty meters away. Just as Michael was looking in that direction. Blinded. The effects would only last a few minutes but the target was leaving soon.

¡¨Birkoff, flash bombs have blinded me? Put Walter on. He can direct me through the camera mounted on the launcher.¡¨

¡§Okay. Walter¡¦s not available though, Michael. It¡¦ll be Sinclair. OH, No!!
Michael, our comm is being scanned and may be jammed at any time. If it does get jammed, use the frequency modulator receiver. Set it at ninety and eight.¡¨

¡¨Ninety and eight¡¨

¡¨N¡K.¡¨
Birkoff¡¦s voice stopped abruptly. Scanned and jammed as he said.

Michael reached into his left pocket. When his hand came out it held a small device. He felt the small wire that was wrapped around it five or six times. The one piece of equipment he was told to always carry but had never used, until now. He unwound the wire the put the small earpiece in his left ear. He felt for the three small buttons on it. One left arrow, one right arrow and a square. The square button turned it on. He bought it up to his face and squinted at the green digital figures. A 1 and three 0¡¦s shone back at him. He pushed the left arrow and watched the figures down. He stopped it at 98.0.

Static

He closed his eyes again and reached over to the right to find the launcher. He reached in front of the camera and gave a hand signal in front of it, hoping Sinclair would see it.

Static

Over the static he could hear the sound of a small engine starting up. From where his target is. A gyrocopter? While he was waiting for his sight to return, he had not seen them pull a gyrocopter out of the hanger. Not a small plane as originally thought.

Static
Then some words.

¡§Lower your sights.¡¨

Sinclair¡¦s English voice. A bit different but he had never actually heard Sinclair over a small receiver before. Michael couldn¡¦t see but knew if he lowered his sights he would be shooting the ground. Maybe Sinclair meant lower the trigger end of the launcher using the tripod as a fulcrum. So the launcher would be pointing into the air. So this is what he did.

¡¨Yeah, but raise your aim. Raise your aim.¡¨

Michael bought the end of the launcher further down. He moved a little bit and lay down like a sniper. He steadied the launcher in place and put his finger on the trigger.

Static for about fifteen seconds. Then..

¡¨Shoot¡¨

Michael squeezed the trigger. The word was not even finished when the small missile had started on its journey.

¡§¡Kthat poison arrow to my heart.¡¨

HeThe sound of the explosion of the missile hitting the gyrocopter covered what was in his left ear.
What?? What is Sinclair saying now?

¡§...oison arrow.¡¨

Has he gone mad?

¡§Shoot that poison arrow to my heart.¡¨

Why is he singing?
The background static had cleared a bit and he could hear some slight piano music as well.

¡¨Shoot that poison arrow¡¨

Static.

Then a strange voice came over the receiver. A type of voice that he never liked.
¡§Wasn¡¦t that lovely? We just listened to the slow version of Poison Arrow by the eighties band ABC. Also known as ¡¥Man Trap¡¦ And speaking of man traps, after this break we¡¦ll be playing three more songs of the eighties that have girls names in the tile. ¡¥Rosanna¡¦ by Toto. ¡¥Alison¡¦ by Elvis Costello and a song by Elton John. That¡¦s right after these messages from our sponsor. See if you can guess the Elton John song."

Michael was confused. He bought the receiver up to his face. Not as close as before as his vision was clearing. He could see the green digital figures. A 9, an 8 and a 0.
Ninety and eight. Correct.

On a feeling he pushed the left arrow button until the figures read 90.8.
Sinclair¡¦s voice. Same accent as the one he had heard but not the same exact voice.

¡¨...perb, Michael. Your sight must have returned as you shot before I said to.¡¨

He heard Birkoff¡¦s voice. Comm had returned.

¡§Team two. Clear the area. Team one stay in position and await for instructions. Michael??¡¨

¡¨Yes, Birkoff?¡¨

¡§Did your vision return?¡¨

¡¨Not yet.¡¨

¡¨Sinclair thought it must have as you were following his instructions and then you fired just before he told you to."

¡¨He must be mistaken.¡¨
