The web is full of ranting/snarking/mocking communities and some of them are focused on fandom and fanfic.

I confess to being a huge fan of a couple of these comms, partially for the reassurance that I get from knowing that *nothing* that happens or has happened in LFN land is strange or unique or, quite frankly, anywhere near as craaazyyy as stuff that happens in the bigger, badder fandoms.

• For all of your fandom mocking needs, there is the one and only, Fandom Wank. Fandom wank exists to mock the kerfluffles and spats and ridiculousness that is part and parcel of fandom. Honestly, along with the funny, it is the fastest education in failed rhetorical and argumentative strategies you will ever recieve.

Fandom_Wank has several spin off communities which are almost as much fun, in particular I like I_Wank, for those days when you do, and OTF_Wank for when people act like idiots online in areans other than fandom (OTF -see!).

• Fanfic, and all those things about it that those who know and love it *hate* and want to bitch about, has The Pittfalls of Fancition, otherwise known and loved as fanficrants. Fanficrants will introduce you to the incredible range of communities that have at least some fanfic, and in and amongst the ranting, you can pick up a lot of interesting odds and ends about writing in general, fanfic in particular, and strange factoids that come in handy at the oddest of times.

• For those who hate Mary Sue - a very funny, if sometimes very cranky, community is Pass the Sporks and Bleeprin, or a community devoted to mocking Mary Sues in HP and LOTR. I know this isn't super related to LFN, but as long as I'm posting links to the snark, I thought I'd toss out this one. There have been a few reports of MarySues invading Middle earth, or Hogwarts, that were so cleverly written I have laughed so hard I had tears running down my cheeks reading them.

• The last one I'll point you to today is Godawful Fanfiction. This website is exactly what it says it is, a place to mercilessly mock really, really bad fanfiction.

A word of warning, all of these sites have and will again get caught up in ugly grudge matches, some of the commentary is venomous, there are many instances of hurt feelings and tears of rage and dramatic exits from all of fandom. If you don't like laughing at the foibles of others, you won't like these communities at all. That I do, well, take from that what you will. ;-) They also get repetative, after a while, because really, nothing is truly new under the fanfiction sun. In it's own way, I find that deeply reassuring. *g*
