I think Kate wrote allergies into some of her early stories, and BonnieBo, even as Wild Wahine, wrote a Michael who had asthma into some of her series.
It's definitetly one of the 'stories' that floats around out there. Along with the Nikita sexually abused child.
I'm not a fan of either of these particular bits of fanon, actually, but I know them reasonably well from reading around.
