deep and emotional attachments with men who are not right for her

I think I'm going to disagree with the entire bit here, especially that part:"men who are not right for her". *g* Gray Wellman was a nice, sweet and caring man, obviously very devoted to her; they got along well together; he was funny, *and* they had sexual chemistry. So, apart from the fact that he was a civilian, I'd say he was in every way right for her, and *because* Nikita percieved this, she hung on to him, because she was naive enough at that point to believe that she could make a Section/non-Section relationship work.

Section had to "teach her a lesson."

Wasn't Section's lesson that she couldn't have a relationship with a *civilian*, even if that civilian in question is her One True Soulmate?

Jurgen wasn't right for her either

Again, not considering Michael's presence for a moment - Jurgen was a good operative *and* a good-looking man (although I know most fen will disagree *g*), with an intriguing combination of ruthlessness, selfishness and honour. Had they met in different circumstances, who knows what might have happened?

the only things Michael asked her to do

Oh, Michael did not ask her to do - Michael *ordered* her to do, without actually telling her the whole story. (from his POV, of course, he didn't have much of a choice either; but Nikita doesn't know that. the obvious jealousy didn't help either *hearts jealous!Michael*) This is exactly what Nikita hated most about their relationship (and Michael knew that), and what she hoped they had moved past after the intimacy at the boat. This is same girl who would let Michael beat the crap outta her (I wouldn’t be surprised if she’d made him do it) without hesitation, provided he treated her as a partner.

Instead, she ran full-bore the other way, just because she could.

Isn’t that over-simplifying things a bit? I think Nell does a pretty good job with this in her post, and I’ll just quote what she said and say big ‘word’ to all of it: “So, while I do think she liked what she knew of Jurgen, and was willing to use that for all sorts of reasons, I don't think Jurgen turned her on in the same kind of basic, now! right now! way that Michael did - and I don't think any of the three of them were at all confused about that. But, on the other hand, I'm not so sure her relationship with Michael could be called 'close' so much as 'intense' - and in fact, part of what upset her so (IMO of course) was that it wasn't a 'close' in the sense of a confiding or supportive relationship. That kind of closeness, Jurgen did seem to be offering and without the same kind of intensity, phyisical or emotional, that made her relationship with Michael so fraught.”
