Subject: Damn, you're making me think again...(r)

but that's a good thing, because these are issues I needed to work out, and talking with someone instead of thinking all to myself helps. *g*

Consistent – let's see… I'll also have to consider two other character types which attract me, and which are, in fact, very close to both Grudging Leader and Hero, Interrupted (hee – I like this name, if I may say so myself) – Morally Ambiguous Bad-ass and Hero. Very often, Grudging Leader and Hero, Interrupted will grow up to be MAB. My!Hero is a bit different from the stereotypical Hero (think Superman), and rarely found on television, but important nonetheless because of the Hero-complex of pretty much all the characters I'm interested in. The only character who qualifies as Hero, for me, is Angel.

As I said, Nikita is a combination of Grudging Leader and Hero, Interrupted. Faith and Buffy are pretty much poster-children for Hero, Interrupted and Grudging Leader respectively (with certain complications due to their own unique experiences). Wesley is Hero, Interrupted – albeit in a way very different from Faith – growing to be Morally Ambiguous Bad-ass; his attitude to leadership, though, is that of Grudging Leader's – if he's given the responsibility, he’ll not evade. Harry is Grudging Leader (who may grow to be Hero, but I'm not sure), and so is probably Jean Grey (XMM – I'll make the leap one of these days), but I'll have to think more about her. In fact, I think you could also call Snape Grudging Leader, with MAB tendencies. Hermione is a bit difficult to gauge – she's still developing; I'd say she is a rather confused MAB who thinks she is doing the right thing for the right reason, and has a dangerous "my way or the highway" attitude. She may turn into Hero, Interrupted (with the consciously wanting to be Hero part). She also has another quality which I love – geeky, and proud of it (Wesley will also fall here, and Remus). Remus is even more difficult to determine – while he is somewhere between GL and MAB (with the irresponsibility of HI), everything is overshadowed by the singular passivity that marks his character. Again, I'll have to reserve my judgement till Book 7 – maybe he'll take a decision for once in his life. Unless JKR kills him in Book 6, of course. *sniff*

Which is my long-winded way of saying, yes – they seem to be. What do you say? Am I consistent?

I'll have to think a leetle bit more about the identification thing. *ponders*
