what a game.

we were winning 10-2 going into the 3rd and final bottom of the 3rd inning. they almost tied it on the last play of the game.

we are all learning lessons. i hope mine are as lasting as the kids'.

as paula points out, we all need to engage with the things that are the hardest for us to deal with because it gives us the chance to walk those paths and come closer to grace through karma.

[i refer to the less pleasant aspect of coaching dealing with opposing coaches, directors and umps: sometimes who are all one person. last minute rule changes. a little smack talking. etc etc.

i stumbled and said a thing or two, things that i don't regret but wish i was not in the position to feel i needed to say

No Love for El Gringito. ]

it's not worth the time now, but you wouldn't believe the whole dynamic down in the valley: parents, coaches, players, siblings, friends, cousins. i'm sort of in the middle of it. "o the Angels! watch out for the Angels! they're the best team. nobody beats the Angels" some of my players and parents at the beginning of the season were part of the dynamic from season's past.

then at the beginning [i vented this to george one night] of the season i got the distinct impression from said "Angels" that they knew their place in the pecking order: their practice diamond unless they're not using it; they're pitching machine unless you can go to their house and return it AND they're not using it {All League Property!} the league director is the assistant to the Angels coach for the High School varsity team.

it's a tangled web.

they touched a nerve at the beginning and it has built up to a climax last night.

we sort of whooped 'em though it was close in the end. but guess what? we play again Monday!

time for another prosac.
