The idea that Bush may win the popular vote but lose the elecotral vote has been making the rounds... some call it poetic justice. I don't see it as any more of a crisis than the first one. (that wasn't really the issue, afterall - the question of legitimacy revolves around minority voter disenfranchisement, not inelegible voters) Things look pretty bad at this point as for legitimacy. I just don't see Rove bowing out gracefully like Gore did. Bush was able to obtain his win from the courts instead of true ballot counting. If things are close again this time around, it'll be the same strategy. Not to recount or rehold the election in specified areas, but to have the SCOTUS call this one again. Either way, as far as the election itself is concerned, it would be nice if there was a clear winner. I, of course, predict it'll be Kerry by 3-6 points. As for Bush governing more from the center... fat chance.
