From a poster at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions (finishes this week)

Obese men had health care costs approximately 177% over non-obese men; pharmaceutical costs (prescription only - over the counter costs not counted) over 300% greater than non-obese men.

Men only included in the study (can't generalize to women, although the suggestion is that the trend would hold). Data from over 400 executive business men from varying companies all using the same insurer. Retrospective review of data (from the past 3 years). Sample a little small - but the general trend is startling.
