Knock on wood, indeed.

I've never gotten the flu vaccine but Molly does get it this time of year. This morning they announced to all the school employees who signed up that it's not happening. I can't recall ever getting it bad.

I'm a bit primitive about the shot - it seems smart to do it, but since I never get it (knock knock) I'm afraid that if I start I'l have to keep doing it every year or risk getting it if I stop. I base this on no scientific knowledge whatsoever! As well, it seems that those who get the shot sometimes have a mild case of it anyways (as a reaction). I'm guessing that if I ever get that'll be the year I start taking it one.

Jack's going in for his 18 mos. check up the week after next and I sure hope they set some aside for the kiddlins. At first I heard it was under 24mos and over 65 and exceptions in between. On NPR today they mentioned just the elderly.

In regard to national vulnerability - it seems amazing that there are only a few places that manufacture the vaccine. What would happen if they were all simultaneously ruined?

Moll & I were/are concerned about the DPT preservative but so far from what I understand all the studies are showing no link. Plus our pediatrician told us they stopped using the preservative in question and have replaced it with something else that hasn't raised any concerns. He said the replacement went in to effect about 2-3 years ago.

tjm - I'm a big fan of hand washing. I take pleasure in the act. Hallucinations... it's funny how awful it is to be sick yet still experience something close to spiritual when in the throes. History seems to be littered with philosophers, mystics, writers and artists who endured debilitating illness throughout or for long periods of their lives... perhaps some strange link there. It's as if the physical becomes a metaphor for the non-corporeal and the test endured is transfered to the soul... I'm thinking of Theresa of Avila and Neitzsche off hand.
