I didn't know you went to economic conferences. The juvenile comment, if you read it accurately, was part of a point I was making and not addressed specifically to the economists you put your trust in. But even so, I stand by the statement - those who believe we can have a civilization without taxes are juvenile.

I don't admire the bland and undistinugished "there are two sides to every argument, story, etc." This type of response puts holocaust deniers on equal footing with historians. Of course, there are two sides, and there is not always a clear winner. But I don't see the letter that you posted as very informative or especially substantive. I do see it as speaking from authority. I do see it as speaking in a more balck and white tone than the one I posted. So what if there are 4 or 400 or 4000 economists... what are they saying? What is it that they said that refutes or undermines the assertions in the letter I posted? What in their letter reflects any reality? It is not enough just to say, "some disagree." There is no trace of critical thinking involved in this type of response.

I won't stoop to responding to your non-response. :-)

Out of left field... to go from comments I made on or relating to the subject of the the letter to the above paragraph is too big a step for me.

I don't agree that my response merits this assertion. I really don't.

is this the standard for all responses? how do your responses measure up?

That's what conferences are for. :-)
