ITALIAN BANKS, SMART CARDS AND EMV
The projected growth in payments cards in Italy is important to the smart card industry. Starting early 2003, banks will begin rolling out what Italy’s banking association projects will amount to 50 million debit and credit chip cards, as well as chip-accepting terminals, by early 2006. The cards and terminals will comply with international EMV specifications.
