well, Jeffery lewis was one of the highlights of FOREVER, i don't even know why... he's just got "it"... so put that to one side for a minute

Revelation of the weekend was Zombina and the Skeletones, I thought they'd be a blast, a riot and a spectaclte, but i didn't expect they'd be so b r i l l i a n t as well. i especially enjoyed "prom night". and then the rock n roll piano that followed shortly after.
Another highlight was daring to talk to the scary skeletones backstage and they blew up the packet of balloons for me I'd brought! I could only manage to tie up about two, but when they got their claws on the packet the room was full of balloons in minutes. Talented bastards.

Hyper Kinako, well I knew what to expect this time, but it was amazing seeing them on last, and getting such a rocking response. A gamble that paid off. Defintely one of my favourite bands.

The Milky Moshpit was good

Herman Dune seem to have two settings... they coast on ultra-american loveliness, picking out almost interchangeable songs and making tehm gorgeous, and the ones where they pull something really special out that blows your mind. Usually it's a song that i didn't hear them play before, and can never find on any of their records. This time it was the last two songs. Which reminds me, i must listen to the new album! woo!
good acapella version of "ease your feet into the sea", too....
Bilge pump, Losers, Losers, unpleasants, Ant.... so many highlights it seems like an insult to mention any of them after the others. lets say Jeffery Lewis wins and the other bands mentioned get a nine-way tie for second place. and horrors, don't think that the bands i haven't mentioned i thought were crap, OK? Because I didn't. and i missed a few of them anyway. Probably no-one was crap.

I think my favourite (current, working) bands at the moment are:
1. Jeffery lewis
2 the seven inches (but i'm biased)
3. hyper kinaaako]
4. Tindersticks
5. bjork
6. Jonathan
7. herman dune
8. zombina and the skeletones
9. moldy peaches (they'll be back)
10. the real losers

oh, i forgot plouf! and big eyes and bearsuit and SFA and others....
i suppose i have more favourite bands than I thought. wow.

anyway Jonny, well done for getting five of them this weekend. Shame you didn't get Bjork though. Most try harder.

"You rock."
goGoGoGO GO!!!!!
