My theory on the idea of God killing people is not that He deliberately kills people, just that later in life, tragic events may turn out for the best. Sometimes it may be a test as well. We cannot comprehend the vastness of God's mind and the intricacies of His plan. Things happen that catch off guard. The death of a person can wound us deeply, but we cannot ultimately see how the death will affect us in the end. I believe that the devil kills unbelievers, while God calls believers to heaven. The death of the unbeliever God then uses to hopefully bring someone to faith, or to strengthen their faith. The death of a believer is a beautiful thing that other believers may use to strengthen their own faith. In the case of death, perhaps the end does justify the means.

God didn't kill Job's family, God gave the devil permission to do whatever he wanted to affect Job without killing HIM so the devil then, in turn, killed Job's family.
