Hey! I was about to suggest that! :-) -- Kashmanik, 12:11:01 03/20/03 Thu
Well, something similar at least. What if there were TWO Keys - Dawn is the Key of Space, and Proserpexa is the Key of Time.
AAAAAND that explains why the Monks made Dawn human, and not all-powerful. They hid the Key of Time in the form of a powerful demon, but she became evil, and so they made Dawn human to not run the risk again.

Hmm...thats a nice train of thought you got going there.... -- anyas_butt_monkey, 12:20:25 03/20/03 Thu
We'd have to expand on this a lot more, and maybe get rid of the Space-Key and Time-Key bit....that just sounds too hokey. If there were two Keys, chances are Glory would've known about the other one too...
Maybe Proserpexa was the original demon form of The Key, but she found a way to tap into her Key powers and used them for evil, so the Monks took away her Key aspect and she stayed as a Medusa-like demon, but they banished her. They then remade The Key in the form of Dawn, but now Proserpexa wants her power back...
Ooooh, maybe she can somehow tap into the Key's powers by being near to it, and thats how she gets stronger throughout the season....and she could sort of realise that The Key is Sunnydale, and.....no, wait, that gets too similar to Glory's hunt for The Key. Oh, I dont know!

Hmm..... -- Kashmanik, 12:27:07 03/20/03 Thu
I don't like the thought that Prostituta (Linda's started a new trend...) needs the Key, it's too similar to Glory's search.
But I think some kind of relationship between Dawn and Pimplecleanser would be good, to draw Dawn into a bigge role. Let's just think of some options:
Proserpexa forged the Key, so is Dawn's "mother".
Proserpexa is a Key - but unlike Dawn, she breaks down the barriers in time, not space. (So Glory wouldn't have been interested in this one!)
Proserpexa was the Key, but had her essence stolen by Monks.
Proserpexa the original guardian of the Key - the Monks didn't trust her, so they stole it.
That's all I got!

I like them all, especially my ideas :) -- anyas_butt_monkey, 12:39:17 03/20/03 Thu
Ok, i'm going to disect these possibilities by order...
1) Proserpexa made The Key - my favourite one. Fills us in on a whole lot of Dawn history. She could also hold some sort of power over Dawn, make her all sleeper-buttmonkey like. But, that part is a bit too close to this season's Spike storyline. But this choice still is the best one, lots of mileage.
2) Proserpexa is a Key of Time - interesting, but where could we take this? The Key is just an instrument, someone else uses it. Unless Philange's plan is to bleed to death so that the walls of time come crashing down around our ears - makes for a very interesting finale, and if that doesnt happen on Buffy as 3Strikes theorised we could use it - but then we have the thing that Puddleinspector's plan (suicide) seems too close to what The FE's plan is this season...
3) Proserpexa was The Key - As I think this through, there are good points and bad points... would be interesting, she would be after Dawn but for a different reason - but still, would be after The Key. Too similar to season 5. But it could be an interesting avenue to go down - as Buffy & Faith share a subconscious link, so could Dawn & Prospectuswearer....
4) Proserpexa was a guardian of The Key - I personally don't like this one, seems too strange.
Oh! One final brainwave....in Spiral, Gregor said that the monks tried to use The Key for the powers of good, but "they failed". What if Philandera was what they created - they tried to embue a "good" demon with the powers of The Key, but failed and the she-demon went all evil and stuff....
Right, I'm off in a minute, see ya later!

I'm liking that Spiral link one -- Linda_Delurked, 12:25:32 03/21/03 Fri
It would be an interesting link to have, as it would make Persperatia a kind of "failed" version of Buffy.
Except that she's a Goddess, so she would be older than the monks. That's a fairly big flaw.

Did they ever actually say Pelicanputter was a goddess? -- Kashmanik, 12:47:17 03/21/03 Fri
I thought Anya said she was just a high ranking she-demon? I'll have to check the shooting scripts. :-)

I think Kashy got it... -- anyas_butt_monkey, 15:11:42 03/21/03 Fri
Anya simply said she was a high-ranking she demon... hell goddess may have been mentioned, I can't quite remember...
