We can't be 100% certain that Anya, Kennedy, Andrew, Amy, Wood, Spike, Xander , Willow or even Dawn will survive. It looks fairly likely that Buffy will, but even that's not a guarentee. Whedon has confirmed that the season 7 finale is the last Buffy ever. He's gonna want to pull out all the stops on this one.

For that reason I think we should refrain from writing too many episodes until season 7 ends. It's going to be a major kick in the teeth if we've figured out stories for each character and then they die in the finale! Especially if Amy makes a return and dies - which I think could happen. I don't think Joss would bring her back for one episode and then leave her hanging, unless there's too little room to fit her in. I think we should be careful about how much we write until we know what has happened at then end of season 7.

For example, Anya is going to be in our S8, when it's known that EC wouldn't have been carrying on. So obviously something will happen to Anya in the finale, be it death/leaving town/etc.

We're just assuming that the main Scoobs, Kennedy, Faith, and Dawn have survived. That's the best we're going to be able to do.

Delaying episode writing until the end of S7 would be a disaster, IMO. People would probably lose interest, both writers and potential audience.
