Miss South Carolina 2003, Jessica Eddins

Miss North Charleston, Jessica Diana Eddins, was named Miss South Carolina Saturday night in ceremonies at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorum.

The selection of Eddins, a 2002 graduate of Charleston Southern and 1997 graduate of Irmo High School, capped a week's worth of festivities in Spartanburg surrounding the annual pageant.

Miss Upstate, Michelle Yvette Gwinn, was named first runner-up. Rounding out the top five were Miss Greater Greer, Mandy Ticknor, second runner-up; Patrice N. Snow, Miss Charleston, third runner-up; and Lauren Ashley Vick, fourth runner-up.

The pageant was televised live for the first time in several years. WSPA-TV's Fred Cunningham hosted the broadcast, which featured an appearance by television actress Dixie Carter.

Earlier in the evening, the 41-contestant field was narrowed to 10. In addition to the five finalists, making the final 10 were Cortni Elizabeth Bracken, Miss Golden Corner; Dohnia Allison Owens, Miss Oconee; Gillian Mulligan, Miss Hartsville; Nicole Elizabeth Southgate, Miss Spartanburg; Sydney Jones, Miss Greenville
