Subject: Hey a Fellow St. Louisian!!!!

Hi Brian!!

I started a website for that very same reason--it isn't very popular yet (In fact, I just put it up today, but hopefully people will come and start posting on my boards!!) If you would like to join, and maybe invite your friends or any website that you are a member of, that would be cool... the address is Http://setcollectors.tripod.com

I think the card companies really have forgotten about us, and it is a shame, it is almost as if the purpose of the hobby has died. Today, most people are so concerned about getting the Kovalchuk card or the $300 Roy card, and what about those darn game used cards? I am a member of several forum sites, and everyone asks me "What game used cards to you have for trade?" I really think Game used is overrated. I have a few cards, but they are cards that I traded for that are of the Blues, which is the team I collect, aside of my sets. I wouldn't dream of breaking up my set to try to satisfy someone else for a card that has a tiny swatch of cloth, even if it belonged to my favorite player!

hi melissa! you are very right. there is too much emphesis placed on game used cards. and not only that, but in my opinion, it seems that the same player checklists of those game used cards are often repeated year in and year out. it used to be special when i pulled one of those cards now it is more like any other card.

my satisfaction comes when i can open two or three boxes and build a set, and not have to deal with sp rookies. don't get me wrong, i think they can be a good thing, just not for set builders. there has got to be a way for the card companies to find a happy medium to where the can satisfy every collectors need. for the game used collector, since these cards are so common, why not produce a game used set.

at least it is starting to look like these companies are going to cut back on the product lines being released. that seems like a step in the right direction anyway.

i agree with you 100% i will not break up a set for anything. there is too much fun and time put into building sets just too break them up.other than building sets i do like to also collect rookie cards. rookie cards will always be a staple of the hobby. not just another passing fad.
