There has been a phrase, used today mostly in collectivist liberal setting, “no justice no peace”. This is a complete secular humanistic view that is not based on any deep thought or reality. It is very self-righteous and overlooks true human nature. Secular humanism is the religion of atheists, the same belief that caused millions to be killed in the former Soviet Union and was exactly the idea behind the killing fields in Cambodia.
First of all if you understand the true nature of man you would know that Justice would not be something you would ask for. “Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it”. You see we are by nature wicked and deceitful, the only hope for any of us is found in Jesus Christ. Human condition is not good it was not good back when they hung Jesus up on the cross and it is not good today. The idea that somehow through government programs and liberal ideologies we can perfect human nature is absurd to say the least. That was the basis behind communism and why it has never and will never be successful.
We have all sinned. The bible tells us “Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Sin entered the world from Adam’s transgression. “Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”. What God said here in the book of Romans is simple; that we are all sinners. We are without excuse. Any person who says they are without sin they are a liar. “I John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us”. There is not a person anywhere with the exception of Jesus Christ who has not broken at least one of the Ten Commandments.
When we do something we ought not to do that is sin. “Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. The first half of this makes it clear that sin leads to death without Jesus. There is a cost for our sin every sin if we have only sinned once or if we have sinned a million times the result is the same.
James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. The end result of sin is always death. That is if we get justice. You justice for sin is death, in other words Hell.
We will all stand before God guilty of all our sins, we will be without excuse as it says in Romans 1:18-20. There is a judgment. To put it plainly we will all have our day in court. Not the municipal court, or county court not even the Supreme Court or the World court but the highest court of all; the kings court. “Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”. We all have a divine appointment to appear before that court of the great white throne of judgment. “Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them”.
On that throne the king will open a book and look to see if you are written in the book. “Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”. They all got Justice served to them.
Justice is getting what we deserve and since we all are sinners we a deserve the second death. “Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death”. But it doesn’t have to be like that. God is merciful. We do not have to have justice. We can get our names to be written in the lamb’s book of life. You see there is a wage for sin and we cannot pay that debt. Jesus when he hung on the cross he paid the debt for us. Because he was sinless he was able to pay the price of all sins. “Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.
We must repent of our sins, which means we must turn away from our sins and the world of sin and turn toward Jesus. “Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”. You see, to repent takes a conscious effort on our part. We must decide that our ways are not right and than his ways are. We turn away from our old life and turn toward a new one. “II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”.
If we take the effort to turn from our sins, that is repentance, and that is how we get saved; we accept Jesus as our savior by turning toward him and accepting the free gift. “Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life”. We escape justice by accepting the free gift of salvation. You see it is like this; we are guilty of sin punishable by death but Jesus has given us a pardon, and all we have to do is reach out and take it from him. By turning toward Jesus and accepting his free gift we do not have to face our deserved punishment.
“Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus”. This is grace. Grace is not getting what you deserve and justice is getting what you deserve.
By not getting justice we can have peace.” John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. We can have peace in knowing Jesus. In fact that is really the only way you can truly have peace. The only way you can have that inner peace is in knowing that you are forgiven of your sins. “Romans 4:7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered”. You cannot have inner peace if you know your sins are not covered. You cannot know peace until you know you are forgiven and you cannot be forgiven until you accept the Lord Jesus Christ. “John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”. If we are not condemned than we can have peace. Deep down in every person there is a void. That void can be filed with Christ or we can have that empty feeling of unrest because every person who is not saved knows it deep down inside. “Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. But once we have Jesus we can have peace.
That is without Justice we can have peace. “ROMANS 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God”. That why in our life No Justice No Peace is false.
